COMMUNITY CONNECTOR

Interactionz created this role in July 2009. The connector’s role is about getting to know the community of Kirikiriroa/ Hamilton and to tell the stories of Interactionz, what our principles are, and why we do the work we do.

The role is one of a bridge builder. The community connector might know someone or something that someone else needs to know. Their role is to ask questions, learn more about what’s going on in our community and find out what people in our communities care about.

They also look for opportunities to create a space within our community so that people can come together and explore how they can help each other make our community an inviting and accepting place for all.

The community connector gets to know people who have strong values, who care about their communities, who want to be a part of their community and who have something to offer their communities.

What that looks like is different for each individual. Whether people are workers, either paid or not, they have something to offer. Whether they are customers or window shoppers, they are consumers.

Interactionz walks alongside individuals with disabilities and other traditionally marginalized groups and assists them to plan their future, make connections within their community and develop meaningful relationships.
