Strengthening Community
Interactionz recognises the importance of connecting with community to create opportunities for people we serve to be involved in, and make their own contributions to, their community.

The relationship we have with community cannot be one-sided. We do not believe it is fair to expect that community will create opportunities for people we serve when we are not making contributions to community ourselves, or providing support and encouragement to enable the people we serve to contribute. We believe that we have an important role to play in strengthening community for everyone.

Community Connecting is about;

Using the resources and facilities that are available in the community rather than recreating them in our own settings

Seeking opportunities to get involved in activities and opportunities in the community that fit with people’s aspirations and goals

Looking for ways that people can be involved in relationships with other members of the community who share common interests and activities

Asking questions to learn about what is happening

Offering help with community events and activities where people we serve can contribute

Being friendly and approachable in all our interactions

We recognise that we also have a role to play in connecting community with community. This means we share connections, make introductions and offer assistance if we can.
